How to solve the “C:\Documents.xls’ could not be found.” error in MS Excel?

When opening any Excel spreadsheet by double clicking the file, Excel successfully opens, but so does the following error: “‘C\Documents.xls’ could not be found. Check the spelling of the filename, and confirm that the file location is correct. If you are trying to open the file from your list of most of late used files on the file menu, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved or deleted.” This is followed by quite a few more errors referencing similar filenames which do not exist. The worksheet will finally open, but only after much annoyance.

How to fix a corrupt system Windows XP O/S ?

Windows XP has the ability to repair itself from 3rd party software overwriting important system files. To fix this we will use a utility called System File Checker or sfc for short Parameters /scannow : Scans all protected system files immediately. /scanonce : Scans all protected system files once. /scanboot : Scans all protected system files every time the computer is restarted. /revert : Returns the scan to its default operation. /purgecache : Purges the Windows File Protection file cache and scans all protected system files immediately. /cachesize=x : Sets the size, in MB, of the Windows File Protection file cache. /? : Displays help at the command
